Extra Curricular Activities

We are very fortunate at Appleton Thorn Primary to have a staff team who are willing to give up their own time both during their lunch break and outside of school hours to provide as wide range of extra curricular activities as possible. Where staff cannot provide activities, the provision of peripatetic (external) coaching is sought. This inevitably incurs a cost to the children who wish to participate in the activities thus provided. At various times throughout the year, the following activities are available:

tennis (infants and juniors), craft club, cross country running, Bikeability training, dance, eco club, football, gifted and talented art club, high five (netball), yoga, enterprise club, cookery, cricket, judo, keyboard, singing, modern foreign languages, gardening club, drumming, violin and Young Voices choir.

The school also successfully participates in swimming galas, music festivals and local and area sports competitions.

The school strongly believes a well rounded education is vital in developing the whole child. To support this we provide extensive residential opportunities throughout Key Stage Two (Years 3 – 6).

Conway Centre

Our Year 3 and 4 classes go to the Conway Centre, in Anglesey, for a three day art, drama and dance residential.

Our Year 5 and 6 classes go to Glaramara, in the Lake District, to take part in outdoor and adventurous activities for a week.
