Every child is an artist, the problem is how to remain an artist once we grow up' - Pablo Picasso

Our artistic aim for every child - Our Intent

Our curriculum is designed to to inspire pupils and develop their confidence to experiment and invent their own works of art. It has been designed to give pupils every opportunity to develop their ability, nurture their talent and interests, express their ideas and thoughts about the world. Our art curriculum supports pupils to meet the National curriculum end of key stage attainment targets. By the end of year 6 we expect most children to communicate fluently in visual and tactile form. Lessons give opportunities for children to produce creative work, exploring and recording their ideas and experiences as well as becoming proficient in drawing, painting, sculpture and other art, craft and design techniques. Pupils are given opportunities to evaluate and analyse creative works using subject-specific language while learning about great artists and the historical and cultural development of their art.

Our pupils are encouraged to think and act like creative practitioners by using their knowledge and understanding to inform, inspire and interpret ideas, observations and feelings. They use independence, initiative and originality which they can use to develop their creativity.  Our children are taught to reflect on, analyse and critically evaluate their own work and that of others.

Most importantly our teaching team demonstrate a passion for and a commitment to Art.
